Marvel & Dinsey “Off With Their Heads!”

Some news that’s circulating around internet today comes from Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Sales David Gabriel. He announced at ComicPro’s retailer summit that they would be killing off a character quarterly due to the huge sales of that the Human Torch’s death brought in. Oh wait they said because they want to see what happens after the character dies like the Fantastic Four becoming the Future Foundation and Spiderman joining the team as comedy relief. Personally I think they’re trying to over take Wolverine’s team count. Oh I can’t wait till a bunch of writers make a joke about how Spiderman is on every team. The next big death will of course be the “Death of Spider-man” in the Ultimate Universe which began just this last week. Gabriel said that the event would give Marvel their biggest media exposure EVER! Since the culling has begun at Marvel I wonder… who’s next?

We started a forum post that ties into this subject that you can find here, or you can just tell us in the comments which Marvel character you’d like to see knocked off next.

Lucid #3 – Review

The third issue begins in 1576 with a relative of Matthew’s finishing the third volume of his magic memorials. The first two volumes were a “handbook” for magic users while the third one is dark magic. In order to better understand the light side of magic, Matthew’s ancestor needed to better understand the dark side as well. He wrote the book to be used only as a last ditch effort if the world were invaded. Back in modern days the book has fallen into the wrong hands. The mystery man calling himself the Pendragon is using it to perform heinous acts for an unknown reason.

Matthew in the meantime is still beating himself up over not protecting the President better. He finds a reflection spell that he thinks could have better protected the President. His girlfriend is finally revealed as… a ball of light. It’s not revealed why she’s a ball of light or if she was even human once. She asks him why he hasn’t at least revealed the fact to his fellow mage’s, but the conversation is cut short as Matthew is called to duty.

Harley and Joker – A Good Couple?

Love is in the air, and this is the week of hugs and kisses. Even if Valentine’s Day was on Monday, don’t you love it when we dish out some awesome features of love? In this lovely feature I will dig deep into the loveable/hate relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn! They’ve dated for years in comic book continuity, but since Gotham City Sirens, Harley has left her boyfriend. Are you glad or sad that Joker and Harley aren’t together anymore?

The Joker is one of the most insane villains known in comic book continuity. From boiling babies and making the parents eat the remains to shooting people in the waste, Joker is crazier than most people. The relationship between Harley and Joker didn’t start in the comics, but on television! Harley Quinn had first appeared on TV in Paul Dini’s Batman: The Animated Series. From there she appeared in numerous episodes with the Joker. The relationship was continually abused and for some demented love, Harley continued to stay with the Joker. While the question of how Harley Quinn has survived for so long, even in comic books, it still seems odd on how Joker bent Harley to his will.
