“Where in the World is Radical?” Coachella Contest

Win Two Tickets to the Coachella Music Festival through Radical Publishing’s “Where in the World is Radical?” Contest.  Radical Publishing is happy to announce the launch of their most recent contest, “Where in the World is Radical?” The contest will run from February 11 to March 15, 2011. The winner of the contest will be flown from wherever they live in the United States to Indio, California, where they will receive two tickets to the Coachella music festival (April 15 – 17, 2011) and a 3-night stay at a local hotel, all courtesy of Radical. To enter, visit the contest page and upload a photo of yourself holding a Radical book or the provided Radical printout in a location that shows where in the United States you live. Note that this does not necessarily mean you need to take a photo in front of a national landmark—submissions can be as simple as a photo taken next to a street sign. Think creatively, though— photos will be judged on the basis of originality.

This great Art Book is few in number and gets released this week, and to add to the specialness of this book Stan Lee writes the introduction.

Pinpoint # 1 – Review

A military truck in Afghanistan is driving around some very crass soldiers in the middle of the day. The group is cracking jokes and the only woman on the truck is especially joking around until one back fires on her compliements of Pinpoint. Suddenly a bomb goes off flipping their truck putting them into a war zone where they must fight their way out.

Flash forward to the present and Pinpoint, one of the soldiers on the truck is tied to a chair. He is bleeding and being tortured by a Jamaican Crime Lord, but is still being tough as hell. They shock him with electricity and he still threatens their lives. The story then jumps to a week prior as Pinpoint is riding his motorcycle to the pentagon and disobeying every traffic law he can along the way. When he arrives he sits down to a private meeting with Mr. Washington.

Dwayne McDuffie Passes

As of yesterday comic writer, producer, and editor Dwayne McDuffie has passed away. Dwayne McDuffie is known for his excellent work on the Static Shock series and Justice League Unlimited. While he is better known for his animation work for comics, he has written numerous story lines for DC Comics and Marvel. While his most recent film was All Star Superman, he has done amazing things in his life for both media and print.

Marvel and the NBA in a True Team Up

The latest Marvel team-up is upon us and it’s not in the pages of Marvel Comics–it’s in arenas and sporting goods stores across North America! Marvel Entertainment, LLC and the National Basketball Association today announced a collaboration to launch an exclusive collection of co-branded merchandise featuring NBA team logos alongside some of the most renowned Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe.We sat down with Michael Jerchower, Marvel’s Director of Licensing, to get some additinoal info and background on this colossal collaboration.

“Co-branding is an important part of Marvel’s consumer products licensing strategy,” Jerchower explained. “It allows Marvel to expand into new channels of distribution.  As examples, we have co-branded product with Harley Davidson, Reebok, NYPD and FDNY. Sports is a key area where we saw a huge connection. The NBA is all about tremendous athleticism and super hero-type abilities on the court. This ties directly to the powers of our characters.

Penny For Your Soul # 5 – Review

A fight breaks out in the poker room of the casino as a Demon transforms in front of everyone and calls the man he’s playing against a cheater. The Demon continues throwing the man around the room until a group of Angels interrupt. They then fight with the Demon making quick work of him. The problem is that the violence and fighting is spreading. Up in the control room Mary, who’s been named the new hotel manager after Danica put her in charge, notices one person not affected by the fighting. One man is just sitting in the middle of the battle ground still playing cards. Mary heads down to talk to him, but really there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye.

Dracula: The Company of Monsters #7 Review

What screams Dracula to you? A lot of blood, seducing beautiful young women, stakes to the heart and crossbows, right? This comic has none of these and replaces them with little humor, no scares and a board meeting. Yes, a board meeting is exactly what I think of when I think about vampires. I expected more from a book about vampires and the direction of this issue had the potential to be interesting but came off rather dull.

In this issue we continue to follow Evan as he teams up with vampire hunter Marta to take down the vampires. The vampire Conrad is also having trouble with his business since his fellow employees want to sell his company.
