The Art of Kenneth Rocafort

It should come as no surprise that Kenneth Rocafort is one of my favorite artist. I truly believe that he is one of the best artists in the world of comics and that he’s completely over looked by most people. He’s started doing some DC covers which I love and hate, because I don’t want to see him become a cover artist for I have strong feelings on that as well. Rocafort has not one, but two websites dedicated to his art so I’ve collected a good chunk and have displayed them here in the hope that you will appreciate his work as much as I do. You can visit The Rocafort Files for more as well as Mitografia for more creator owned material he has.

Barnes & Noble: The New Comic Destination?

Bleeding Cool reported that Barnes & Noble is to expand their comic book offering significantly in June. They reported the following Barnes & Noble statement: “In early June, we will begin carrying both Marvel and DC Comics titles that until now have only been available in comics specialty stores. We’ll also have new assortments from such publishers as Dynamic Forces, so series like the popular Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris will come straight to your store. We will continue to search for new and exciting titles to add to this category to drive customer interest and sales. To feature these new titles, we will be creating new layouts for all stores. With your help and support, we believe Newsstand sales will increase and Barnes & Noble will become the destination for comics lovers.”

Planet of the Apes #1 – Review

Let me say that I realized something upon finishing this book and that’s that I don’t like Planet of the Apes. Now hold on before you go jumping to conclusions. I’m speaking of the franchise, not this comic. If anything this comic is a wonderful story set in the world of Apes and captures the voice of the original film quite well. The problem is it isn’t my type of Sci-fi. I should root for the humans, but I know how crappy we can be and that if the roles were reversed we’d treat the monkeys like garbage as well. On the flip side, the monkeys are right evil bastards that just make you hate them so much. I’m just not a big fan of Apes, but I do respect the product and quality that Boom! has put into this new series.

The Mission #3 – Review and Preview

Well if you guessed that this story fell from the Fight Club tree of thought than you win a cookie, not from me so good luck claiming it. This issue was created for one reason… the last page and I’m not going to tell you about it. I will tell you that this book does absolutely nothing to drive the story forward or even deal with the fact that the main character killed someone in cold blood the issue before.

The next is a poster image for the Walking Dead TV show which I liked and it came from here. His site has some other cool stuff on it as well. The last which we get our title from is from Pinkofink.com so check them out as they have a lot of cosplay as well.
