A lot of artists tend to but out a decent amount of sketches and colored images, but from exploring Dan Hipps site I’d say he’s constantly drawing something. Oh the dream of drawing all day. At any rate I came across Dan’s site and found a good mix of funny and serious art that he has on display. I’ve stuck to the comic themed drawings, but if you’re interested in seeing more than explore his site. You won’t be disappointed.
Red Spike is coming this week and we’ve got a preview for you to check out. I like the fact that the first issue is only a dollar and that they’re having a contest for Mark Texeira art as well. This week saw the release of Morning Glories #9 from Shadowline and Image Comics and from our review spawned a conversation with the artist of the series Joe Eisma. You might have heard this classic story somewhere: He was once a royal retainer until his lord’s death in battle. Miyamoto Usagi is now an unemployed samurai, a ronin, walking the warrior’s pilgrimage in search of harmony. But it seems that wherever this warrior’s journey takes him, trouble is not far behind. The concept of this story is spawned from countless samurai tales/movies. In fact it could be a great TV series. A Hollywood producer might imagine this story with a badass actor and see this as a bloody, gore and guts feature. But it would come with a surprise to them when they see that our protagonist is actually an adorable bunny.

than ten years circling in hell with Violator, Spawn 2 was dug up again by
writer Todd McFarlane in 2009. He
began writing a script for the anticipated sequel but said, “The
story has been in my head for 7 or 8 years.” McFarlane goes on to say, “The
movie idea is neither a recap or continuation. It is a standalone story that
will be R-rated. Creepy and scary.”
With the slew of comic movies coming mostly from Marvel geared toward a
more teenage audience, Spawn 2, like its predecessor, will be geared toward
adults. The film is supposedly
coming but I would not hold my breath considering creators’ tendencies to
promise the world and then never deliver (case and point Duke Nukem
Forever).
