New Avengers # 6 – Review

An Avenger dies, a villain is defeated and Bendis ends the first storyline of the New, New Avengers disappointingly. Also, Wolverine is a total wimp… seriously didn’t he used to be a bad ass? Also when does Dr. Strange get his redemption? Damn haters

Red Robin #17 Review

Cassandra Cain is back. That name is enough for a lot of the former Batgirl’s fans to feverishly grab up this issue, but to be warned Cassandra is not in the issue enough for a reader just interested in her to be satisfied. There is enough of an enticing epilogue and nice artwork to have others happily pleased with this well-crafted epilogue to the Hit List storyline. You can still skip it and you will not be missing a piece of the plot, but you will miss out on a lot of other things.

Artifacts #3 – Review

After a month of waiting, it’s finally here! The next installment of the Artifacts series and it almost hits all the great moments and art in the previous two issues… but it does lack some structure and does not live up to the first two issues. That does not mean it still isn’t a powerful issue full of wonderful artwork and colors. The battle is beginning in this issue as Sara and the others battle off evil demons and Aphrodite goes around the world assembling a team against her!

Halcyon #1 – Review

The story begins in the Middle East as “Jarhead” the super soldier has been sent to find Bin Laden. He easily tears apart the religious fanatics that seem to have all but given up on fighting. After practically killing all of the reluctant soldiers, he discovers that Bin Laden’s own men had killed him three days prior.

Red Hood: The Lost Days #6 – Review

A lot more was expected from “Red Hood: The Lost Days.” As a whole, this series had an interesting story that could have been more thoroughly explored and there was a growing need each issue for better artwork. There were a few moments that were very powerful. This issue failed to have any of them. It is possibly the worst issue in the entire mini-series.

The lost days of the Red Hood have come to an end. Jason has finally tracked down the Joker and he aims to make him pay for killing him by burning the Joker alive! Will Batman be too late to save his mortal enemy, or will Jason have his revenge?

Secret Warriors – Night #20-21 Review

It’s not often that I’m disappointed by Secret Warriors or Jonathan Hickman, but with the latest volume of Secret Warriors – Night – I find the brilliance of the story lost in mediocre art and bland coloring. You would think that a book of its caliber and a writer of his stature would beckon a superstar artist to be permanently attached to the series. Instead there has been little consistency to the series and Marvel takes a page out of DC’s “Horrible Idea’s” book and throws not one but two artists onto the title to presumably keep up with Hickman’s scripts.

Superman Earth One – Review

He’s the man that upholds Truth, Justice and The American Way. He was the first, and is the most recognizable hero. Just seeing his symbol alone can give hope and make you believe that anything is possible. He is the Kryptonian: Superman. Honestly, I always try to give this guy a chance, (maybe because I was awed as a child) so when I heard of another revamp I picked this up with much enthusiasm. I was not completely let down, but neither was I awestruck with this book.

This book starts with the beginning. It follows Clark Kent moving to Metropolis in search of something to do with his life. After trying his hand at a few things and passing expectations with all he does he is still unsatisfied. Whilst discovering his past from his ship, Earth is invaded by a fleet of alien ships commanded by alien Tyrell, claiming he is searching for someone and is holding the planet hostage and Clark must decide to save or hide.

Angelus #6 – Review

The lead up to Top Cow’s massive crossover event Artifacts, has been a long one (there have been mentions of this five years in the making) and has kept many fans on the edge of their seats, biding their time to leap head-first into the series. The six issue lead in mini-series (Angelus) has now finished and without disappointment. The issue starts with a recap of what happened in the previous issue, showing that Sabine had used the power of The Wheel of Shadows to transform Baptiste’s partner Finch, into an elderly lady, which spurred the final confrontation between the two.
