27 #2 – Review

Will stands face to face with the ghost of Hargrave Swinthe the man responsible for the apparatus in his chest that gave him the ability to play the guitar again for three hours. He asks Hargrave what the hell happened and after not liking his answer he halls off and decks Hargrave in the face; which surprises him as his ghostly body is knocked to the floor. He asks Will to sit and talk with him as they only have three hours to do so. He explains that what he was attempting to do was exchange the cat’s energy to heal his hand permanently. Will says that it almost worked, but that a dark entity (Erebus) told the light one (The Nine) that it was a trick. Hargrave explains to Will from what he observed that each time he uses the apparatus it will give him a different creative talent; this time the talent is to interact with the dead, but each gift will only last for three hours. Three times twenty-seven equals eighty-one and eight plus one equals… nine.

Starborn # 4 – Review

Starborn is a mix between Halo, the Last Star Fighter, The Matrix and as we discover in this issue Eragon. Bejamin Warner was dreaming his life away, writing a sci-fi novel and going nowhere in his boring ten to five desk job, now he is running for his life from the same space aliens he was writing about. In the last issue we ended with Benjamin and Tara Takamoto (Benjamin’s sexy shape shifting bodyguard) caught between the impending forces of the beast men of the Pryde. Unfortunately Benjamin cannot use the gauntlet to escape this time. Still unaware of this, Ben uses the gauntlet only to display a flash of light, this was enough distraction for Tara to make her way among the Pryde. In doing so, Tara gets hurt but not too bad, this leads them right into a group called the witches of Arbor. The witches of Arbor apparently killed Benjamin’s parents. The witches don’t want to use violence to resolved this conflict but as Tara charge against them, they used what looks to be telekinesis or some type of antigravity magic on her.

Add in zombies, comic books and video games and this series proves to be the ultimate spoof of some of the classics.

He meets him in a dark and seedy warehouse where he’s strapped into an apparatus that the “doctor”, one Hargrave Swinthe has created. Hargrave hooks the device up to nine cats and explains to Will the cats have a strong association with the number nine. Nine lives times nine cats equals 81 and eight plus one equals nine. Hargrave then undresses himself to reveal a tribal body tattoo and prepares to be a part of the experiment as well. The Walking Dead Weekly #10 – Advanced Review

The Walking Dead Weekly is a reprint of The Walking Dead monthly edition. This reprint has nothing different to offer us except the chance to buy this series again in single issue form. For a reprint, the cover price of $2.99 is too much, but this was done mainly to cash in on the popularity of the TV series. That being said, this issue can be considered a transitional one. The group survived their first adventure and is set to start another one with new characters in a new setting. The issue starts with a wounded Carl, Rick’s son who was accidentally shot by Otis a man that lives in a nearby farm. Otis realized his mistake and suggests that Carl be moved to the farm so that he can be looked after by Otis’ friend. The group decides to go there they and meet Hershel, who happens to be a skilled veterinarian. Hershel manages to take the bullet out of Carl and saves the boy’s life. We see that Otis is not a bad guy; in fact, he was worried sick over Carl. Hershel then introduces his six children. Maggie, one of Hershel’s daughters, talks with Glenn about being proactive about sex and they agree to be sexual partners.
