THQ Matches “I Heart Japan” Relief Fundraiser

A couple of weeks ago, I Heart Japan held an acution at Meltdown Comics in order to raise money for Japan. It was pretty successful on it’s own raising $6,500 on it’s own with the help of a lot of Anime voice actors and celebrity appearances. Well it seems that THQ decided to match the amount raised bringing the total to $13,000. Not bad at all. Video game publisher THQ has generously agreed to match the money raised at last week¹s WE HEART JAPAN event to go to the American Red Cross, bringing the grand total raised for victims of the quake and tsunami that night to over $13,000. On March 17th, the WE HEART JAPAN event, held at MELTDOWN COMICS raised over $6,500 for JCIE’s Japan NGO Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund,² which provides support to local Japanese organizations that are taking part in the relief effort. THQ will be matching that amount in a donation for the American Red Cross. To date, JCIE has already transferred $20,000 to their partners in Japan to be used in the relief efforts there.

IDW and Wasted Talent Launch – Crawl To Me

You know that bass player from Life of Agony, Alan Robert? Well I don’t, but apparently he likes making horror comics. He’s launching a new one called Crawl To Me which will hopefully be at Wondercon so I can do a super early review. The premise sounds interesting, but I’ll let the press release break down the comic info and the news that Alan Robert’s first horror comic Wire Hanger is being adapted into a movie… yay! more comic movies. Alan Robert, best known for being the bassist and creative force behind the respected hard rock group, Life of Agony, has formed a new film production company, called Wasted Talent Entertainment. The first project in the pipeline is a live-action film adaptation of Robert’s own horror/crime graphic novel, Wire Hangers. Robert created, wrote and illustrated the book last year, which was published by award-winning comics publisher, IDW Publishing (30 Days of NightLocke and KeyZombies Vs. Robots).

I’ll slap on the times of when you can get the book and also the details about a Facebook contest where people not attending Wondercon can try to get their own copy. DOROTHY OF OZ, the first in a series of five limited edition comic books, will be officially unveiled at San Francisco’s WonderCon. The comics will fill in the gap for eager franchise fans from the classic L.
