Shipping In August – Moonstone Books

August isn’t looking to be a heavy release month for Moonstone, but what they’ve got looks interesting. I’m looking forward to the return of the Justice Machine and the continuation of Heap. There’s also going to be some pretty cool looking 2012 calenders released that month and I’m betting Buckaroo Banzai becomes the first choice of a lot of people. Check out the covers and release info below.

Tokyopop Shuts Down U.S. Operations

Tokyopop will be shutting down it’s U.S. operations at the end of May and for some this is a sigh of relief. Tokyopop has had questionable business tactics when dealing with new Manga creators and so for some this is a good thing. I see it as the first nail in the coffin for interest in Manga and Anime in the states though. Then there’s the question of the original english language books rights will return to the creators, but right now… who knows.

Jonathan’s most recent work was showcased in his critically acclaimed book, Dear Creature, about an atomic sea mutant in the 60’s whose poet soul is at odds with his tendency to eat people.

Shipping in July – Zenescope

Being Solicited in July from Zenescope comics is another batch of interesting books. The Dream Eater Saga continues which is the big crossover event that looks pretty interesting actually. Zenescope doesn’t seem like the type of company that would do that so it’s kind of cool that they are. Also is the D.I.N.O. Strykeforce, Fly #2 which I’m dying to read and Library issue of Grimm Fairy Tales.

Warner Bros. May Lose Rights to Superman

A long battle was started by Warner Bros. back in 2008 to attempt to maintain the Superman franchise after the now deceased Joanne Siegel and her daughter obtained half of the copyrights for the Man of Steel, originally created by Mrs. Siegel’s husband Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Warner Bros. had a set-back in the case when Judge Zaresky declined giving a document to Warner Bros. that is, supposedly, an agreement made by Siegel and Shuster to no longer have copyright deals with Hollywood, Esq. and Siegel and Shuster’s homes would share the proceeds made from the Superman franchise after taking Superman from Warner Bros. studio.
