BOOM! Studios, one of the top publishers of graphic novels and comic books, announced today the immediate availability of the new free Stan Lee BOOM! Comics App for iOS mobile devices! The app will showcase the digital versions of legendary comics creator Stan Lee’s superhero comic series, SOLDIER ZERO, THE TRAVELER, and STARBORN. In addition, the titles can be downloaded for iOS through the BOOM! Studios Comics App.
Remember all the all inspiring “The Governator” products and
project that were coming our way that involved comics from Archie Comics, an
animated TV series, a 3-D movie and an array of consumer products? It was a
joint effort between, A Squared, Archie, and POW comics.
It basically would have
seen the extra awesome idea of a recently retired governor of California
deciding to take on global villainy and disasters with the help of a team of
teens. He’ll be living a double life with his heroics a secret even from
his family. Sucks right?
With Flashpoint on it’s way DC has been dropping all sorts of goodies relating to their summer mini-series blockbuster event. As per the usual on their Source news page they posted a batch of Flashpoint Friday including this very detailed map of the world layout of Flashpoint! In a world where everything you know will change in a flash, it might help to have a map. Luckily for us, thanks to writer Rex Ogle and artist Freddie E. Williams II, readers now have just that: a map of the world of FLASHPOINT.
IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon today announced that the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series, featuring the beloved “Heroes in a Half-shell,” will premiere in August 2011. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be back in action and ready to fight off evil once again, with an impressive creative team led by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman!
Activision and Marvel revealed one of the three playable characters from their upcoming X-Men: Destiny release. The characters name is Grant Alexander and you’ll be able to decide if you play him as a good guy that helps humanity or a bad guy that gets pissed at it and destroys everything.
Okay Fables fans, here is a special treat coming for you this fall. Vertigo has announced a collection of stories from Bill Willingham. I love the fable series and I dig what Willingham does with Fables
so I will give this a shot. The man is a genius. The best part is that
all the stories are collected in one book. Can’t wait for it.
This is not certain, but I
am very intrigued by the creator-owned project that Bryan Hitch is
trying to get going. The question is would the project be at Marvel in
their Icon line, or would he go somewhere else? Either way we know that
the book is going to have some beautiful art with it. Also, the pairing
of Jonathan Ross with Hitch should produce a very interesting book.
Attention New York City nerds! The Wizard World Big Apple Comic Con is coming this weekend. Unlike some other comic book conventions, this one is still focused on comics, although there will still be some film, television celebrities on hand, along with a trading card game tournament and a costume contest.
If you’re a Red Blood comic book fan, chances are you love
and or worship master comic scribe Robert Kirkman. You’ll be happy to
learn that his runaway hit, The Walking Dead, is coming to the world of board games.
This summer Publisher Z-Man Games will have the honor of bringing The Walking
Dead: The Board Game to the world. The game was designed by Keith
Tralins of MegaGigaOmniCorp, Inc.
The game will feature the characters and situations from the
comic book. “Our goal was to give
players the chance to feel like they had to survive in that world, with an
unrelenting swarm of zombies at their heels,” said designer Tralins.
