Zenescope Has 1000 Ways For You to Die

Have you ever seen that show on Spike television called 1000 Ways to Die? It’s basically a show
where people die in all type of different dumbass ways. But it’s done in a very
goofy manner. Well, what would you give to have the master talent at Zenescope
bring that same outrages fun to you in graphic novel form? Nothing you say? Well
good because it’s happening anyway.

The two have teamed up to bring a 200-page graphic novel
based on the Spike TV series 1000 Ways to Die.  Keep a look out in the Fall when the book will
be hitting comic book shops everywhere, unless they don’t order it.

Good for Zenescope to nabs this property; let’s just hope it’s
not all the same skits from the show, just done in comic book form.

Hey remember the Madhouse and Marvel team up that was going
to bring your favorite Marvel characters and add all the Anime action? Well it
looks like they wasted their time on Eric Brooks: aka Blade. Of all the Marvel
U characters they choose Blade? Really guys? Blade? Let me guess, he’s got the
Vampire thing going on and that’s so hot right now.  Anyway, sit back and enjoy a trailer for
Blade, dropping July 1st in Japan and everywhere else whenever they
feel like it.

Exclusive Preview Time – Trailblazer #1

Here’s our second exclusive preview courtesy of Jimmy Palmiotti, in support to his new book from Image Comics entitled Trailblazer. Once again I’ve taken an excerpt from our interview with him in which he talks a little about the book. Trailblazer comes out July 6th released both in stores and digitally at Comixology.com.  It’s totally different from Jonah Hex because it’s a science fiction based adventure that happens to be partly set in the old west. The basic story is about a hired killer that is forced out of hiding and has to go into a witness protection program that sends him back to the past. It’s something Justin and I came up with around 6 years ago and finally got together. The read the interview in it’s entirely check it out here.

Exclusive Preview Time – Book Smart #1

What’s better than having an exclusive interview with Jimmy Palmiotti? Nothing, but having two exclusive preivews of his upcoming releases is a close second. The first is Book Smart and I’ll let the man himself tell you all about it. Booksmart is an 88 page graphic novel Justin and I wrote and Juan Santacruz illustrated. It’s basically a fish out of water story about an American girl who loses her memory while on a trip in Nepal and the adventure she has trying to figure out who she is and why she is even there in the first place.  I was editing a bunch of books for Kickstart during their initial launch and Justin and I decided to pitch this idea to them and they loved it. It’s one of many of their graphic novels that have done…all of them aimed at an all age’s group of readers. It’s solicited this month and we are very happy with the way it came out. There is nothing like picking up a book and having a beginning, middle and an end. Read the rest of the interview here!

Preview Time – Soldier Zero #9

Another issue of Stan Lee alien goodness is upon us and having already read this issue I’ll tell you, it’s going to be good! Soldier Zero has become consistently better with each passing issue, so you can expect that #9 is no exception. If you’ve been missing out on the series this issue is also the start of a new story arc so here’s yet another chance to start reading this book. With Abnett and Lanning writing it, its a bit like Nova from Marvel, but with it has a great world created for it all on it’s own. Check it out and then check back for the review.

Preview Time – Darkwing Duck #13

It’s been awhile since Darkwing made an appearance on the site and that pains me. Not only was he one of the few original cartoons spawned from the Disney Afternoon Block (with the exception of Launchpad), but it was great cartoon that showed the ridiculous side of masked avengers running around in the dark. Thankfully Boom! saved Darkwing from retirement and brought him back in a monthly series. Something told me I should pick up the thirteenth issue and because of that you get a preview!

Warehouse 13 Coming From Dynamite

It stands to reason that if comic books can be adapted into
movies, TV shows and videogames that those other forms of entertainment can be
adapted into comics. That’s why Dynamite Entertainment is bringing the SyFy channel’s
Warehouse 13 to comic books this August. If you’re a fan of the show then you
should probably check it out since the stories won’t be limited by budget
restraints that prevent them from traveling afar, in fact the first story arc
takes the team to Brazil! The only question I have is where’s the cover from
Alex Ross?

In August, Catch Up On Some Damn Dirty Apes

The first arc of Boom!’s Planet of the Apes may not be done yet, but they are ready to promote this summer’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes with their trade paperback of the first story arc. You might be thinking, “What the hell you’re only halfway through the story arc, why are you talking about the trade?” The thing is Planet of the Apes has been more popular than Boom! ever expected, so if you haven’t been reading it already you’re probably not going to be able to find the first two issues. Your next best bet is the trade. The deal is sweetened by the low introductory cover price of 9.99 and shipping in the same month is the fifth issue for a dollar. That’s right; all of you that missed out on this series and thought it was going to be a cheap cash-in can pick up the first five issues for $11.00 dollars. That’s a great value, unless you don’t understand comic pricing in which case you’ll have to take my word for it.
