NBM is very proud to announce it’s first Manga from Japan will be released in the U.S. this september. The book has been a run away hit in Japan selling more than 400,000 copies of the Stargazing Dog. They also be re-releasing two Manhwa’s from the Korean market the same month as they dip their toes in the Japanese market. I have to say for the description I’m really interested in the Stargazing Dog and can’t wait till September to check it out.
WIth Comic Con International just under a week away how about we take a look at some of the offerings that NBM will have at the show for you?
A Treasury of XXth Century Murder: The Lives of Sacco & Vanzetti
Rick Geary tackles the most controversial case of the 20th century. Anarchists Sacco & Vanzetti were accused of robbery and murder but so many supposedly damning pieces of evidence were questionable their guilty verdict elicited massive protests around the world. Geary presents us with all the twists and turns, appeals and dubious evidence after presenting us the human face of the two men, demonized by many, turned to martyrs by many others in his usual unflappable way.
If you’ve never been to Comic Con then you’ll be in for a surprise as you’re handed a ton of free stuff. Unfortunately most of that stuff is total crap that you’ll never use or find a place for in your collection of, well, crap. Dark Horse has some pretty sweet offerings this year so you’ll want to swing by their booth and grab awesome items like the Hellboy Mask, Dark Horse character buttons and other very cool things.
Viper comics have teamed up
with Vinnie Fiorello, the drummer of the kick-ass ska punk-band Less Than Jake. Fiorello, along
with writer Matt Anderson (White Picket Fences) and artist Peter Wonsowski, present the comic world a book about
the horror of a music celebrity.
In a matter of weeks, the comic’s character Nathan Almost goes from an unknown
suburbanite to the biggest musician who ever existed! Fans adore him, buying
his t-shirts and posters. Critics chase him, wielding their torches and
pitchforks!
Going to Comic Con this year? Want to get a drink with the guys running Boom? Well you’re in luck because you’ve been invited to their 6th anniversary Drink Up (a meet up with booze). How did you get this invite you ask? Well everyone is invited so shut up and go have some fun from the number one comic company under 5% two years running!
With around 13 days left till Comic Con 2011, companies are starting to lock down their schedule and exclusives for the con. Each year Aspen is known for having con exclusive covers to their series and this year is no exception. What is new for them is having five new mini-series and two new ongoing series all hitting at the same time. That means more covers than ever for those looking to score some hot variant covers.
The count down to Comic Con is on, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have some previews of what’s to come. Here’s what’s shipping in September from Zenescope comics and maybe while we’re down in San Diego we’ll ask a few of Zenescope’s creators about these titles and bring you the enlightenment of our journey… or something to that nature.
Remember when you could get digital comics on your PSP? I
say remember because that’s all you’re going to have: memories. Sony has
decided to call it quits on the 18-month-old service. If you didn’t know, it
basically offered downloadable comics from publishers, by the likes of Marvel,
DC Comics, Devil’s Due, IDW Publishing and so on.
I don’t know if that’s a payback kill from MW2 or if someone is “making it rain”, but there’s money on them covers! This September, Boom! is launching an all new crime drama comic entitled The Rinse for only a dollar. That’s right, one buck will get you the entire first issue of the series being written by Gary Phillips and drawn by Marc Laming. We’ve got a special four page preview and a little blurb from Boom! about the book.

Chimichanga! – A bearded little girl that saves her traveling side-show with the help of a creature she found in a witches egg… what more is there to love? I missed out on this book originally, but thankfully it’s returning to its bi-monthly schedule from Goon creator Eric Powell. The deluxe hard cover collects the first three issues and has a new ten page story made just for the hard cover.
