Shipping in Nov’ from MoonStone – Part 1

Coming to us from Moonstone Books is their November releases! We’ve included a synopsis of each title and these books will more than likely be on sale in October because that’s how comics work!

First up is North Guard #1 

Years ago, during the Golden Age of Comics, there was a group of colorful heroes who fought the good fight, stomped the bad criminals, and wiped out the really evil Nazis, far from the eyes of American comic fans, up in the frozen North of Canada. With stars like Johnny Canuck, Freelance, Commander Steele, Ghost Woman, Purple Rider and the Red Rogue, (amongst so many others),-the comic books of the wartime CANADIAN WHITES are considered by knowledgeable fans to be amongst the best created anywhere in the golden age. But these stories have never seen print in the United States, and the characters have rarely been seen outside of Canada.

Berkeley, CA – 15 July 2010 – What do Frank Miller, Jeff Smith, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee and Image Comics have in common? They all support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, which protects your right to make, sell and read the comics you love. Image Comics is showing its continued support for the CBLDF with the publication of LIBERTY COMICS 2010 this October.

The CBLDF is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians and readers. The CBLDF provides legal referrals, representation, advice, assistance and education in furtherance of these goals.

Turf #2 Sells out! Goes Back for More!

TURF #2 sold out at distribution level; Image Comics takes it to press again

Berkeley, CA – 14 July 2010 – Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards’ TURF — a Prohibition-era tale of vampires, gangsters, and aliens — is a certified hit with the sell out of issue #2! Image Comics is reprinting the issue, and it will be available on July 21, 2010.

Lady Robotika Lands In San Fran

Co-Creators Jane Wiedlin and Bill Morrison Debut Lady Robotika at Two Bay-Area Comic Shops

WHO: Lady Robotika, the inter-galactic rock ‘n roll sexy cyborg heroine, is the brainchild of Jane Wiedlin (legendary guitarist for the Go-Go’s) and Bill Morrison (Eisner Award-winning creative behind The Simpsons Comics, Futurama Comics, Roswell, Little Green Man and Heroes Anonymous), and she makes her debut in comic stores nationwide on July 14.

WHAT: In celebration of the comic book’s release, co-creators Wiedlin, aka Lady Robotika, and Bill Morrison, will be making two appearances at Bay Area comic shops to sign copies of Lady Robotika issue #1, “Slaveship to the Stars!”, and meet and greet fans.

One fan at each event will win a limited-edition autographed poster of Lady Robotika “Machina ex Femina.”

Marian Churchland returns to ELEPHANTMEN for War Toys one-shot

Berkeley, CA – 13 July 2010 – Russ Manning Award finalist Marian Churchland is returning to ELEPHANTMEN this October with the one-shot ELEPHANTMEN, WAR TOYS: AGATHE. Image Comics will release the book, written and drawn by Churchland with inks by Moritat, on October 20, 2010.

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to revisit one of ELEPHANTMEN’s strongest characters, Yvette,” says Churchland. “She’s fierce, and she’s formidable. Best of all, try as you might, she never relinquishes her inherent mystery.”
