A New Spider’s in Town!

Anya Corazon (also known as Araña) is about to become the new Spider-girl. This has been a long anticipated action, thought of by fans who first saw Anya in “Amazing Fantasy #1” back in 2004. Finally, Anya will be Spider-girl in her second ongoing series, debuting next Wednesday.

Fans of the original Spider-girl, May “Mayday” Parker are unfortunately going to yet again lose a series with this beloved character since Marvel does not want to have two ongoing series with characters using the same moniker. Resentment and mixed feelings about Anya as Spider-girl have yet to make it clear if the book will sell well or not. Creators promise fans that if they liked the original Spider-girl because it focused on a young girl trying to live up to Spider-girl’s name, they will not be disappointed here.

Young Allies : Cancelled

After six issues, Sean McKeever’s (known for his work on Teen Titans) series Young Allies (part of the Heroic Age launch) has been cancelled due to lack of sales, with the solicited issue seven never going to print (although McKeever did mention on his Twitter that it was still only in plotting stage, there is no “lost issue”).

At the back of the last issue, McKeever writes a letter that even though this series has been cancelled, he assures readers that this is not the end of the characters that were a part of Young Allies. His main mention is to next year’s “Arcade” crossover between the worlds of Young Allies, Spider-Girl and Avengers Academy. Starting in November, Spider-Girl (formerly Arana) is going to have her own ongoing series and Nomad is going to continue to be in the back of the Captain America books, with no mention of what will be in the future for character’s Toro, Firestar and Gravity.

Another Crazy Image Teaser

It’s a new week so that must mean a new batch of crazy teasers from Image. Well they haven’t let us down yet! This time we have a Lucha-Libre Sumo-Wrestler from the looks of it… and what’s this? His ankles are impossibly thin! I’m all for the suspension of disbelief, but come on! I still haven’t a clue what this title is about or even called. I’m sure if I scoured another site I could easily find the answer, but where’s the fun in that. I will say that the more I learn about the comic, the more it comes off as trying to be shocking for the shake of being shocking. Getting “hard” over murder, wanting to be in someone’s colon like cancer, the universeaving a dong and boobies. Maybe after reading the book I’ll understand the connection between all of these teasers, but for right now it’s just trying too hard for me to care.
