DC to Pull the Plug on the Following Books

DC has released their April 2011 solicitations. The folloing titles are reciving their FINAL ISSUE. So enjoy them while you can. They’ve said that it’s to make room for Flashpoint titles, which is typical of DC. They usually use event books as an excuse to thin the heard of low selling books. Usually fans of the books get really ticked off and begin a petition to keep their title going, but it never works. If this were Marvel on the other hand they would just put out the new titles as well and flood the market. Which is better? Who knows?

Shipping in April – Moonstone Books

Ah April’s comics, their right around the corner. They’re not? Well here’s a bunch of releases from Moonstone Books regardless. Moonstone has a lot of pulp comics with a dash of horror. I have to say they’re really finding their nitch in the industry. If you’re interested in what their books are about check out our review for Phantom: Unmasked, Battle for L.A. the Return of the Originals and Captain Action – Winter Special for a view of their Pulp titles. Then we have a review for Savage Beautywhich is set in modern day Africa. All are definitely worth a read if you’re looking for similar things to Marvel’s “The Twelve” or Dynamites “Project Superheroes”, so check them out. Otherwise, this is what Moonstone is offering in April.

Marvel & Dinsey “Off With Their Heads!”

Some news that’s circulating around internet today comes from Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Sales David Gabriel. He announced at ComicPro’s retailer summit that they would be killing off a character quarterly due to the huge sales of that the Human Torch’s death brought in. Oh wait they said because they want to see what happens after the character dies like the Fantastic Four becoming the Future Foundation and Spiderman joining the team as comedy relief. Personally I think they’re trying to over take Wolverine’s team count. Oh I can’t wait till a bunch of writers make a joke about how Spiderman is on every team. The next big death will of course be the “Death of Spider-man” in the Ultimate Universe which began just this last week. Gabriel said that the event would give Marvel their biggest media exposure EVER! Since the culling has begun at Marvel I wonder… who’s next?

Static Shock Gets A New Ongoing Series

It’s been what? Seven years! While Static Shock was one of
the most successful TV Shows of it’s time, it only had four seasons. While
Static Shock’s TV series ended in 2004 books, and eventually comics, were what
got Static into mainstream continuity. Static has served on the Teen Titans in
years past and has had his own ongoing series also. However, that was only ten
years ago. Today Static gets (yet again) another chance at having a series!

Image Comics Presents A Loaded New Series

Batman: Arkham City Mini in May

Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the most successful video
games of 2009, and earned a Guinness World Record for the “Most
Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever.”  This May, find out what
happened between Batman: Arkham Asylum and its highly
anticipated sequel in BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, a six-issue miniseries that
bridges the gap between the two games, and leads into the game’s
release this fall.

It’s shipping time! You know the drill, each month publisher figure out what thier going to ship for the next few months and we’re lucky enough to be sent that list from several “Indie” publishers. Throw a stone and you can figure out what the “Big Two” are shipping, but it sometimes takes real effort to figure out what your favorite small publisher is shipping. So up first is Archaia Press with a handful of selections. If you’re not reading the “Feeding Ground” then let me say that book is tough!
