Spider-Man Joins the Fantastic Four

After the Fantastic Four member Johnny Storm was torched-out in Fantastic Four #587, it was asked who would replace him, if anyone? None other then the famous wall-crawler Spider-man! It is not much of a surprise since Spider-man’s alliance with the Fantastic Four goes back to the first issue of his own series, The Amazing Spider-man #1 back in 1963. He had asked them then if they wanted to hire a new member for there team and now they have finally given him an answer: yes! The new series with Spider-man as an active member of the Fantastic Four re-launches in March: though they will no longer be known as the Fantastic Four. Instead their will be a name change – the team will become known as the Future Foundation, still enabling it to keep the slang term FF even if the new name sounds like some kind of space brigade.

Google Celebrates Will Eisner’s 94th Birthday

If you check the Google home page today you will see the Godfather of the graphic novel’s famous creation… the Spirit, gracing the page. This is in celebration of Will Eisner’s 94th Birthday. Of course Mr. Eisner passed away in January of 2005, but he is quite influential in comics even to this day. The great thing about this is that the Spirit comic always spells out the Spirits name within the setting of the page, so it’s very fitting to have Google spelled out the same way. I hope everyone will check out Mr. Eisner’s site, where you can stop by his short biography page to learn a little something about one of the greatest comic creators to ever live. I just hope that Google doesn’t crash their site. If you’re interested in the Spirit then check out our coverage of First Wave and the newest volume of the Spirit from DC comics. Otherwise, Happy Birthday Mr. Eisner.

Meth Dealer to Lose His 18,753 Comic Book Collection

You know when you have a problem? It’s
not when you’re dealing meth as your career, it’s when your start using your
drug money to buy comic books! It shames me that this happened in my own state
(which seems to have a growing meth problem) but Aaron Castro is on trial for narcotics distribution and weapons charges in the state
of Colorado. Not only that, but he may lose his 18,753 comic book collection to
the state! Apparently Aaron was so hooked on comics that people were meeting
him in a comic book shop to pay him for drugs. Then he would turn around and
buy a box of comics! Let’s recap this real quick. He has a drug problem (more
than likely), he has a money problem, and he has a hording problem. I have a ton
of comic books all purchased legally and not with laundered drug money, but
this guy couldn’t have been collecting nearly as long and already has almost
twice my collection! I don’t know the fate of the comic books or the meth
dealer, but I do want to know when the auction is so I can pick some up.

Honey West #3 – Preview and New Creative Team

Moonstone Books releases Honey West #3, the first part of the trilogy story “Murder On Mars” by writer Elaine Lee and artist Ronn Sutton. This three issue story arc features fictional detective Honey West joining the cast of a mid-1960s low-budget science fiction B movie (“Amazons of Mars”) to investigate the murder of the film’s starlet, Zu Zu Varga. Honey must find out if the culprit is a scheming ingenue, a down-on-his-luck director, a jealous agent or an aging teen heartthrob. This storyline runs through Honey West issues #3, 4 & 5, after which time artist Ronn Sutton will be penciling and inking some other Honey West projects in 2011. “I’m currently wrapping up the artwork on my third issue” comments Sutton. “I’ve spent a lot of time drawing these issues, so to speed things up a little I’ve brought in a model with a belly dancing and burlesque background to help me create all the major Honey West poses in issue #5″.

They’re will be a slew of publishers there, maybe some comic announcements and variants! Here are some very cool variants from Stan Lee’s trifecta of books and I have to say that I don’t really go for variants anymore, but I would still consider getting them. Pretty bad ass from the looks of it. Also included is the Boom! signing schedule where you can get artists draw on your “Get-A-Sketch” edition of Darkwing, The Muppet Show and Cars. Shipping in May – Archaia Press

You know what the worst part of solicitations is? Finding out that one of your favorite books is due to ship for another two months! I don’t know if I can wait that long to read Cyclops again! I might just have to learn French and have it shipped over seas! Not really I couldn’t afford that and so I’m very thankful to Archaia for releasing Cyclops here in the states, but that would be an awesome present! Here’s another batch of releases this time from Archaia Press and a whole two months ahead. Of course most of this will probably ship in April, but then that ruins the dramatics at the beginning of the article. Beside my favorite Cyclops is the hardcover edition of Days Missing: Kestus which is another great book. Looking for other options? Keep reading then.
