Character Affinity: Beta Ray Bill

In my time reading comics there have been very few characters in the Marvel Universe that can go toe to toe against the God of Thunder and defeat him. And there have been even fewer characters in the universe that have been deemed worthy of wielding Thor’s mighty hammer Mjolnir.  What would you say if I can find one character in particular that has beaten Thor in a fight and he has also been deemed worthy of holding Mjolnir. You might say “that’s crazy” but actually there has been someone who has done it and that hero’s name is Beta Ray Bill,

Cyber Monday: Lone Wolf And Cub

It
happens, you know? Great titles get crappy treatments. Especially when you’ve
collected into trade paperbacks. It might be that you’re reading your
favorite book, your finger holds the page for too long and the art gets
smudged. It might be that after you read an awesome book, the book bends
and stays in a swirl-like form forever. It’s possible that you are
enjoying a book that has over five hundred pages and as you turn the
pages a couple of them fall from the book. Yeah it’s bad and horrible
when it happens to your favorite comics.

Character Affinity: Thor

The best of both worlds
that is what Thor is all about. Thor is both a son of Asgard and a son
of Earth or Midgard. You might discover Thor from Marvel Studios’ hit
movie, but don’t let the movie confuse you with its Hollywood-tinkered
origin. Read the true comic book origin here.
Thor
is one of several powerful ancient gods of planet Earth; he comes from
Asgard as he belongs in the pantheon of Norse gods. But his Marvel comic
debut was in Journey into Mystery # 83 back in 1962. It was
created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber. They created Thor as a
way to contrast their previous creation, the Hulk. How can someone beat
the strongest person there is? Easy… You make him a god.

Character Affinity: Odin

Odin is the ruler of Asgard and the father of Thor, Vidar, Balder and adopted Loki. He was created by the combined creative minds of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. He first appeared in Journey Into Mystery #85 and has now returned to the living thanks to the efforts of Matt Fraction. Odin’s father was the first Asgardian, Bor and his mother a frost giantess, Bestla. Bor was the previous King of Asgard. He was killed by a time-traveling Loki. When Loki wanted to exile Thor from Asgard he resurrected Bor. During his fight with Thor, Bor is killed… or re-killed to be accurate.

Open Letter to Joe Quesada

This is an open letter to Joe Quesada of Marvel Comics. This is the actual letter he was sent along with a copy of Superman # 704 which is mentioned in the letter. Feel free to put you own comments at the bottom as this is just to share publicly a letter that may never actually reach Joe’s hands and if it does… well then hey, it did what it was supposed to do. Hopefully by now the letter has actually made it to Marvel and if not then it might not be as much of a surprise when it does.
