Neal McDonough will be portraying Dum Dum Dugan in Joe Johnston’s upcoming film The First Avenger: Captain America, according to Deadline. Dugan is one of the crucial member’s of Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division (also known as S.H.I.E.L.D) who also fights against the Japanese and Nazis during World War II.
Chris Evans will play the title character; Hayley Atwell, Tom Jones, Sebastian Stan, and Hugo Weaving also have roles in the film.
Given that this film sets the stage for The Avengers, it is very likely that Dugan will be featured in The Avengers, as well as several other Marvel films. This is perfect casting for two reasons. One of those is that he has a knack for action films, such as Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Traitor, and Clint Eastwood’s Academy Award-nominated Flags of Our Fathers. The other being that he is an acclaimed actor, winning a Satellite Award in 2004 for his supporting role in the drama series Boomtown. McDonough has been on the verge of breaking through for quite some time, and this role could be his big break in Hollywood.
The First Avenger: Captain America will be released on July 22, 2011.
