Respected character actors Bill Nighy and Stanley Tucci have
been cast in X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer's fantasy flick Jack the
Giant Killer.
Nighy will play half of the two-headed giant leader Fallon while Tucci will step into the role of the king’s adviser and main villain, Roderick. Here's a synopsis of the film from TheWrap:
“A long-standing peace
between humans and giants is threatened when a young farmer tries to rescue a
princess who has been kidnapped and taken to the giants' kingdom.”
It should be noted that no one has yet been cast in the roles of Jack or the princess of the story. Previously speculated actors include Aneurin Barnard from the upcoming film Ironclad, Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney
Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street), U.K. Skins star Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Johnson of Kick-Ass fame.
Candidates to play the female lead include up-and-coming
actresses Lily Collins (The Blind Side),
Adelaide Kane (TV’s Neighbours), and
Juno Temple from the upcoming Paul W.S. Anderson take on The Three Musketeers.
Now that Singer's attention is not so desperately needed on X-Men: First Class, which is entering post-production, he can focus on casting the lead roles and some new should break soon.
