Better Call Saul Netflix Deal
The anticipated
Breaking Bad spin-off,
Better Call Saul still hasn’t hit the air, but Netflix has already struck a deal with Sony Pictures Television to stream the series after it airs on AMC in 2014. Netflix has been credited as an important factor in
Breaking Bad’s outstanding success. The site allowed for viewers to catch up on the series before its final season, which broke multiple ratings records and became quite the pop culture phenomenon. Netflix is certainly eager to profit in the built in fan base and AMC as well as Sony have benefited from this kind of partnership before.
Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said, “
Breaking Bad is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television.It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world. This spin-off promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling.” Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko had this to add, “Coming off of the overwhelming success of
Breaking Bad, we’re excited to continue our collaboration with Vince, as well as Peter Gould, and that fans around the world will be able to embrace Saul.“
Better Call Saul is co-created and executive produced by Gilligan and Gould. The spin-off will tell the story of “mall-based super lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) in the years before he became Walter White’s attorney.
