Battlefield 3 Dated, Promised to be Gritty

Battlefield 3, the highly anticipated title from European developer DICE, has been shown at E3 and officially been dated. On October 25, 2011, the Frostbite 2 engine is slated to amaze and dazzle, with brand new multiplayer gameplay and some amazing graphics. DICE has mentioned that they are working closely with “highly decorated ex-SAS operator and acclaimed author”, Andy McNab, “to ensure the authenticity and grittiness of today’s war is captured in both the single player and multiplayer campaigns”.  Battlefield: Bad Company 2 showed the original Frostbite engine’s prowess with superior sound design and amazing visuals all around. If that game wasn’t even made to be all that realistic, it’s going to be amazing to see what they do with experts on board.

Battlefield 3 is going to release with one of EA’s usual “Limited Editions”, first-run special editions of the game, that comes with the first DLC expansion pack, “Back to Karkand”, at no extra charge. The expansion pack is a tribute to original Battlefield 2 fans, including remastered versions of four of the predecessor’s maps. Which maps isn't specified, but as the name implies, Strike at Karkand is likely to be one of the included offerings.

Battlefield 3 will be released on October 25, 2011, for PC, Xbox and PS3.
