Downloadable Content is just the thing needed to keep people talking about Battlefield 3, especially after Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim came out. The first Battlefield 3 DLC pack, Back to Karkand, is coming out on Tuesday (12/6), part of a timed exclusive agreement between Sony and EA. The Back to Karkand pack features four of the most popular maps in Battlefield 2 (Gulf of Oman, Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, and Sharqi Penninsula) redone utilizing all of the bells and whistles of the amazing Frostbite 2 engine. Also included are 3 vehicles (VSTOL fighter jet, desert buggy and an APC or armored personnel carrier), five new trophies, 10 new weapons playable in the main game and a new layer of persistance with "Assignments."
The Assignments have specific objectives that have to be completed. The "Let it Rain" assignment, for example, requires 20 kills with light machine guns and 2 mortar kills. Completing the assignment will then unlock a new weapon, a matching set of dog tags and the next Assignment. The weapons and dog tags can then be used throughout Battlefield 3.
