Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 Going on Now till January 11th
The start of the new year also means the return of the speedrunning community's biggest event, Awesome Games Done Quick. It is a week long marathon that started yesterday where most of your favorite classic games get played as fast as possible and also raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. While most classics from the older Nintendo systems are the ones to watch, newer games are also getting represented this year such as
Pikmin 3,
DuckTales Remastered,
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.
The marathon last year (picture of it above) raised almost $500,000 for the PCF and the summer incarnation, Summer Games Done Quick, raised about $250,000 to Doctors Without Borders . These marathons have been getting more successful now thanks to the popularity of speedrunning streams on Twitch. As of this news post, this year's marathon already over $100,000 in just a day and there is still a lot of the marathon left to go. If you want to donate, here is the
link as other incentives for various games can be met as well. For the schedule of what is yet to come, click

In just a day, there have been memorable moments in the marathon such as the fire alarm going off at the venue earlier today. The stream can be found
here and will go on till January 11th. I will be tweeting a lot about this for the next few days, so check my Twitter account from time to time about which games I'm personally looking forward to.
