Akuma is Coming to Street Fighter V
"The Great Demon Returns"
The
Street Fighter V roster will expand soon with the addition of Akuma. The demon fighter first debuted in
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and has made major appearances since. Ever since, Akuma has become a fan favorite.
During the conclusion of the Capcom Pro Tour North American finals at the Red Bull Battlegrounds, fans got a short teaser for
Street Fighter V's newest character.
The teaser was brief, showing only a view of a temple (Which looks similar to Akuma’s stage from
3rd Strike) ravaged by a storm, followed by flashes of light (which appear during Akuma’s signature move, the Shun Goku Satsu). An iconic
Street Fighter image follows: a paintbrushed Kanji emblazed on the back of Akuma’s black gi.
Street Fighter fans will notice that the kanji on Akuma’s back appears to be different in the teaser reveal. The traditional “Heaven” kanji has been replaced with one for “god” and “man” - the same symbol used on his ultimate form, Shin Akuma. What this means for Akuma’s appearance in
Street Fighter V is hard to say.
The teaser mentioned he will be playable at this year's PlayStation Experience on December 3-4.
Akuma will be the seventh DLC character to come to
Street Fighter V.
