Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle Review
"It's Morphin Time!"
The game features all of the original five ranger colored teenagers and the Green Ranger. Players are to do battle against dastardly villains such as Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. It is a classic beat-em-up action for many players locally. There are as well special stages where you can fight against giant monsters, and then transform to take them down, Morphin style. The levels are reminiscent of classic episodes from the first two seasons of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show.
Players can select their Power Ranger of choice. They can also level up his or her abilities throughout the game as they fight grotesque enemies and bosses. The adept use of martial arts, weapons, and giant Megazord will play crucial roles in ensuring players’ victory against evil.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle also features a robust local co-op multiplayer mode (no online by the way) where players can combine their powers to execute special attacks and spectacular displays of martial arts power. By utilizing the game’s skill tree, players can use points to learn new moves and abilities. This just makes replaying a particular level more fun and easier too.
The Power Rangers world is displayed in 2D animation style. The basic moves; block, throw, and dodge roll are all there. Additionally, players can switch weapons and then initiate a ranged attack. Best of all, players can morph the Rangers into their more powerful forms — i.e. the colorful, spandex outfits.
The game looks promising. It certainly isn’t the Power Rangers MMO hinted at ages ago, but fans of the original show will love this one.
Here's the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song for all the never dying Power Rangers fans:
They've got a power and a force
that you've never seen before.
They've got the ability to morph
and to even up the score.
No one can ever take them down
the power lies on their side.
Go, go, Power Rangers
You Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers
Pros
- Classy
- Fun
- Nostalgic
- Challenging
Cons
- 2D rendering
- A bit strict to the story line of the original show.
