Sega today announced the final release dates for NiGHTS into Dreams HD and Sonic Adventure 2 HD. Both classics that being brought back in widescreen and HD are coming out on October 2 on Playstation Network for $10 each and Xbox Live Arcade on October 5 for 800 Microsoft Points each. They are also a part of Sega's Heritage HD Collection that also features another Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio, which is out this week on the downloadable platforms that were previously mentioned for the same price.
Sonic Adventure 2 HD featured the debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, another rival for Sonic that eventually had his own game last console generation. The battle mode that was included in the Gamecube version will be available as DLC for $3 or 240 Microsoft Points. This includes additional content and modes that weren't in the original Dreamcast version.
NiGHTS into Dreams was arguably one of the killer apps for the Sega Saturn and the birth of a new franchise for Sega. A sequel came out on the Wii, but with mixed reactions among fans and critics. This HD version also includes additional content in the form of Christmas NiGHTS. The holiday themed expansion that was only attainable by a Saturn holiday bundle and magazine promos is free when you buy NiGHTS HD.
Both Sonic Adventure 2 HD and NiGHTS into Dreams HD will be released on October 2 for Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. If the early release and discount for Playstation Plus owners was any indication for Jet Set Radio, expect something similar for these two games if you're getting them from the Playstation Store.
