As of yesterday Frictional Games announced that almost 1.4 million purchases of Amnesia: The Dark Descent have been made. In a blog post on their website, they had quite a bit to say about these numbers and how they came about. “Adding all HIB and Potato Sack sales gets us to 1 360 000 units in total, which can be called the optimistic figure. This means that, optimistically speaking, Amnesia has sold almost 1.4 million units!”
Frictional Games then goes on to say: “The next big thing for us will be the release of Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, which is a follow-up developed by and produced by us … Release for AMFP is expected early 2013.”
While the release date for A Machine For Pigs is not novel news at all, it does show how excited they are to have it finished and in our hands. I'd recommend giving their post a read-through especially if you are a fan of Amnesia to begin with. It's always great to see an indie company seeing some serious success, bravo Frictional Games!
