The Simpsons Renewed Through Season 30

The Simpsons will continue its run as the longest running scripted show on television. Fox recently announced that the classic cartoon will be coming back for at least two more seasons, which will bring its season count to 30. This also means the series will clock in at 669 episodes, giving the cartoon the mantle of most episodes for a scripted series. Fox put together a press release announcing the renewal and the new records The Simpons will reach, noting that the announcement means the series will surpass the previous record holder for most episodes, Gunsmoke, which ran for 20 seasons and 635 episodes.
