Lifetime’s UnReal Announces New Showrunner

Lifetime’s award-winning drama series, UnReal, will have some major changes for season three, including a new showrunner. According to Variety, Stacy Rukeyser has been named the new showrunner for the series. Rukeyser served as an executive producer last season, but is now taking over for Carol Barbee, who ran the second season and will not be returning to work on this new season. The first season’s showrunner was co-creator Marti Nixon. Rukeyser has also previously worked on Twisted, The Lying Game and Greek, but this will be her first time as a showrunner. Rukeyser has teased that they have already started working on season three, which will begin filming in Vancouver in February of next year, and will air in summer 2017. She went on to tell Variety that season three will include, “truthful, character moments." UnReal gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work on a reality show similar to The Bachelor and has previously focused on male suitors, but critics and fans alike have speculated that this third season will have a female contestant, much like The Bachelorette, but the storyline for season three has yet to be confirmed.
