Nintendo Releasing Miniatures NES Classic Edition This Fall
"No Game Counselors hotline coming back though"
Seems Nintendo will be releasing new hardware this holiday season, nust not the one we expected.
Going a route seen by Sega and Atari, Nintendo will be releasing a miniature NES, dubbed the NES Classic Edition, that is preloaded with 30 games. It’ll retail for $60 and come with an HDMI cable, AC adapter and one “NES Classic Controller.” This controller is based off the NES controller, but with the controller port of the Wii Remote, meaning you can plug it into the Wii Remote as a Wii Classic Controller for Wii and Wii U games that support it.
The game selection is pretty neat, consisting of both first and third-party games:
Balloon Fight
Bubble Bobble
Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Dr. Mario
Excitebike
Final Fantasy
Galaga
Ghosts ‘N Goblins
Gradius
Ice Climber
Kid Icarus
Kirby’s Adventure
Mario Bros.
Mega Man 2
Metroid
Ninja Gaiden
Pac-Man
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
StarTropics
Super C
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Tecmo Bowl
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
It’s sounding like NES Classic Edition is a modified Wii, with those Wii Remote controller ports as well as it’ll have the benefits of Virtual Console games, like suspending save points. Unlike the NES though, it’ll come with only one controller, with extras sold separately.
