Evolve is Going to Be Free
"For you to play. When you want to."
If you’re anything like me, when you heard of
Evolve you thought this: so… I fight other players as a gigantic monster… that seems… cool… very cool. It’s likely you also thought about all of the inventive ways you were going to
Cloverfield your friends into submission. And since you’re like me in this scenario you probably instantly forgot about it.
Don’t be ashamed of that. Sometimes you forget stuff. It’s not a bad thing. It just happens. The team at
Evolve wants you to know that they understand you… or me… us? Whatever.
“When
Evolve launched, the reception wasn’t what we expected. Sure, there were some good reviews. There were also bad reviews. Yes, there was excitement. There was also disappointment – for players and for us. The DLC shitstorm hit full force and washed away people’s enthusiasm, dragging us further and further from that first magical pick-up-and-play experience.” States Turtle Rock studios in a message on their website.
The point of that message is that
Evolve is getting an overhaul to several classes to make it more playable, and also it is being made available on PC as a free Beta. You heard right. The game is going to be free fro you to play, like a first taste if you missed it the first time, to get you hooked.
The updates include: Reworked hunter classes, improved maps, load times, progression systems… the list goes on. It gives me the impression that
Turtle Rock has used the time since Evolve released to look over it’s work and reception and is working to make things better. I have to say that I approve of this philosophy. Don’t we want our cool games worked on until they’re the best games they can be?
Of course we do.
It just would be nice if that happened before they were released.
