Daniels, Weaver Sign on for Netflix’s Godless

"A six-episode miniseries set in the Wild West"
Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) and Merritt Weaver (Nurse Jackie, The Walking Dead) have been announced as recent additions to the cast of Godless, Netflix's upcoming six-episode miniseries set in the Wild West of the 1880s. Godless will be adding two Emmy Award winners to a cast that includes Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), Jeremy Bobb (The Knick), and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones). Daniels will portray the lead character of Frank Griffin, an outlaw on the hunt for his former partner turned mortal enemy Roy Goode (O’Connell). Weaver will play Mary Agnes, the brash widow of the late mayor of Le Belle, NM a quiet mining town where Griffin has tracked Goode and where it turns out that all of the men have died in a mining accident. Rounding out the cast, Bobb will play A.T. Grigg, the editor of a newspaper obsessed with writing about the Griffin Gang, while Brodie-Sangster will portray Whitey Winn, the town deputy devoted to both books and the sheriff. godless-netflix-miniseries Written and directed by Scott Frank (Minority Report), Godless is executive produced by Frank, Steven Soderbergh, and Casey Silver. Frank and Soderbergh previously collaborated, as screenwriter and director respectively, on the 1998 film Out of Sight, which was nominated for several Academy Awards and was voted the best film of that year by the National Society of Film Critics. Daniels comes to Godless fresh from his recent Tony nomination for his work in the Broadway play Blackbird, while Weaver was most recently seen as Dr. Denise Cloyd on The Walking Dead. Netflix hasn’t yet announced when Godless will be available for streaming, but you can be sure to find out on Entertainment Fuse!
