Bethesda and ID Software announced pricing and release details for the remastered version of Doom 3 today for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. Since it is not a new completely 60 dollar game, Doom 3: BFG Edition will cost 40 dollars on consoles and 10 dollars cheaper on PC. For those who don't know what is in this package, BFG Edition contains the original game remastered in HD, plus the Resurrection of Evil expansion. Changes have been made to the gameplay such as an improved checkpoint system, modified controls, and more importantly shooting while having the flashlight at the same time with the new armored flashlight.
According to the press release, it also contain achievements and trophies along with 3D support. New, never before seen levels will also debut on this version called "The Last Mission". In addition, older games in the franchise such as the original and Doom II are bundled in BFG Edition. This will be the first time Playstation 3 owners will have access to Doom and Doom II, since both of those games have been released seperately on Xbox Live Arcade and numerous times on PC. I'm personally curious if those two are currently delisted on the Xbox Live Marketplace because of this package coming out soon. The announcement trailer from a couple weeks back is up below if anyone that missed it. Players that are excited to play through Doom 3 again, for the first time, or in a new way, will have to wait untill October as Doom 3: BFG Edition is now on track for a October 16 release in America and three days later for Europe.
