Maze Runner: The Death Cure Sets New 2018 Release Date
20th Century Fox has announced that the final part in
The Maze Runner trilogy,
The Death Cure, is now scheduled for release on January 12, 2018. That is almost a year after the movie's original February 2017 planned release. The production was delayed when star Dylan O'Brien was injured during a tragic accident on set earlier this year.
O'Brien is believed heading towards a full recovery, although his time in the hospital was extended past the originally projected six weeks.
The Maze Runner: The Death Cure is directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin, like the previous entries in the series,
The Maze Runner and
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. The movies are based on the popular YA novels of the same name by author James Dashner.
The current planned release date for
The Maze Runner: The Death Cure coincides with the opening of
Sherlock Gnomes, the sequel to the animated movie
Gnomeo & Juliet, as well as with a, as of yet untitled, Fox Marvel film, which has now been moved to March 2, 2018.
