NBC's modest hit Grimm has just wrapped its freshman season, but we are already hearing about what it has in store for us in the fall. Zap2it reports that James Frain ("True Blood") has been cast as the brother of Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) on the dark fantasy series. Grimm ended its maiden season with a finale that tried to deal with some of its mysteries while introducing new ones. The biggest new addition being arguably the "resurrection" of Nick's mother played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.
"The next year will be about Nick coming into his own," the show co-creator David Greenwalt said in an interview with SciFiNow. "There will be people from Nick's life who appear, and it'll be about him becoming a more realized Grimm," he also said, and he went on to add, "He's going to face a lot of competent enemies in the next year."
It would seem Frain's Eric Renard fits in that narrative. According to Zap2it, the character will be a recurring guest star who doesn't have the greatest relationship with his brother, and who comes to Portland with an agenda of his own.
