The Shannara Chronicles Renewed for Second Season
MTV recently announced that
The Shannara Chronicles will be getting a second season, according to
Variety.
The show is based on the popular book series of the same name written by Terry Brooks, and tells a high fantasy story about an Elvin princess named Amberle, a human named Eretia, and elf-human hybrid named Wil, as they try to save the world from an evil demon.
The show is produced by Jon Favreau (
Iron Man,
Entourage,
The Jungle Book), Jonathan Liebesman, and Dan Farah. MTV produces the series along with Sonar Entertainment and Farah Films.
The cast includes Poppy Drayton, Ivana Basquero, Austin Butler, James Remar, Brooke Williams, Daniel MacPherson, Aaron Jakubenko, and Marcus Vanco.
The Shannara Chronicles is the first epic fantasy show produced by MTV. The first season premiered in January, bringing in a decently sized audience and spanned 10 episodes. It ranked as the highest grossing digital download single season on MTV the network’s history, according to Variety.
