Netflix Renews Orange Is the New Black for Three More Seasons
"For better or worse, orange will be in fashion until at least 2019."
Netflix announced today that
Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for seasons 5, 6, and 7, with series creator Jenji Kohan returning as showrunner and executive producer.
“Three more years!” Kohan said in a statement. “Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things.”

Orange Is the New Black premiered in 2013, and has gone on to become one of Netflix’s flagship series, garnering critical acclaim and several awards.
Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix, touched on the series’ success in her statement: “Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt. Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of Orange is the New Black, and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.”
I’ve never seen
Orange Is the New Black, but from what I’ve heard about
House of Cards, Netflix isn’t always successful when it comes to keeping their shows fresh as they grow older. Do you think the series will be able to stay interesting through (at least) 2019?
No doubt fans will have a better idea of what to expect when Season 4 is released on June 17.
