Minecraft Finally Coming to Wii U
"Better late than never."
One of the most requested games for the Wii U has finally been granted.
Today, Nintendo and Mojang announced that
Minecraft: Wii U Edition will be hitting the console, and very shortly. The game will be available next Thursday, December 17th. It is the only console version published by Mojang themselves, and Microsoft is publishing it in Japan.
The Wii U version will have 4-player splitscreen, 6-player online co-op, Off TV-Play and GamePad support. It’ll already contain the Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack, Natural Texture Pack, City Texture Pack, Fantasy Texture Pack and Festive Mash-up Pack. Other paid DLC packs will be available as well, such as the
Simpsons,
Dr. Who,
Star Wars,
Skyrim,
Mass Effect and Greek Mythology packs. Due to the added packs, the game will release on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99, with a retail version slated for 2016.
This is great news for the Wii U, as it was starving for this extremely popular family-friendly game. Just in time for Christmas too. Telltale's spinoff,
Minecraft Story Mode, is also slated for the Wii U.
