Tom Welling Returning to TV with Spy Drama Section 13
"Somebody saveeeee me."
After concentrating on feature films like
Draft Day and
Parkland,
Deadline reports that Tom Welling is making a return to TV with
Section 13.
Welling, of
Smallville fame, is attached to executive produce and star in the series, which follows a former CIA agent (Welling) who joins a secret organization that handles incredibly dangerous missions after experiencing a "personal tragedy." Carla Kettner, known for her work on
Bones, will be the writer and executive producer of the series.

Remember this? I can't believe
Smallville only ended four years ago. (Image via

This isn’t Welling’s first time as a producer. He formerly worked as a co-executive producer and executive producer for
Smallville’s final two seasons and acted as an executive producer on
Hellcats (which was developed through his production company, Tom Welling Productions). Joining Tom Welling Productions on production duties for
Section 13 will be Warner Bros. TV.
It’s not like I’ve been waiting with bated breath for Welling to come back to the medium I know him best for, but I can’t help being a bit excited by this news. Further details on the series and additional cast members will be better indicators of its quality, but it could turn out to be a fun series in the vein of
Human Target.
*Tom Welling appeared as himself on an episode of
Man Fire Food earlier this year, which clearly whetted his appetite for a true starring role on a TV series. Clearly.
