A Snowpiercer TV Series is on the Way
"Now if only they could get Song Kang-ho on board..."
Snowpiercer will be getting new life on the small screen.
THR reports that Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film will receive a TV adaptation, courtesy of Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow Studios. Adelstein will be executive producing the project along with Becky Clements and feature producers Chan-wook Park, Dooho Choi, and Bong Joon-Ho. Josh Friedman (
The Sarah Connor Chronicles,
Avatar 2) is attached as writer.

Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?"

Those familiar with the film might be surprised by this news. Even those who saw the tagline for
one of the film’s posters will know that the feature is focused on a very finite goal: fight to the front of the train. The film’s commentary on social class (with the elite living in the front cars and the "scum" being relegated to the cars at the tail-end of the train) is ripe for further exploration, but it’s hard to tell how the narrative will be prolonged for even a ten episode season. Perhaps the train will just be gigantic this time around. Or maybe the goal won't be as clear. With Bong (director of
The Host and
Memories of Murder) on board, I'm excited to see how the project develops.

based on Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette's French graphic novel
Le Transperceneige. The film stars Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Octavia Spencer, Tilda Swinton, Go Ah-sung, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, and Ed Harris.
