Preacher Series Coming to AMC
Everyone wants a comic book based television series lately. There are now Marvel and DC Comics-based shows on the CW, ABC and Netflix, and now AMC wants a piece of the pie. AMC has ordered to series an adaptation of Preacher, a 1990s comic by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon. Seth Rogen will be executive producing the project with Evan Goldberg (This is the End).
The story of Preacher follows the life of Rev. Jesse Custer (to be played by Agent Carter’s Dominic Cooper). Custer is a conflicted Texas minister who teams up with Genesis, a spiritual force that might be making him more mighty than Almighty, according to TVLine. The cast also includes Ruth Negga from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. who will be playing his gun-slinging ex-girlfriend, and Misfits’ Joseph Gilgun, who will be an alcohol-loving Irish vampire named Cassidy. Custer will be traveling across the country searching for answers from a disenfranchised God.
Other cast members include Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) as Emily Woodrow and Ian Colletti (Rake) as Eugene Root aka Arseface.
Preacher has received a 10-episode order and is predicted to debut on AMC in mid-2016.
