Jessica Jones Release Date Announced
Marvel fans don't have to wait long for the next live-adaptation Netflix series. The comic book-inspired series
Jessica Jones will premiere on Netflix on November 20th. Marvel Entertainment used their official
Twitter and
YouTube pages to make the announcement on Thursday morning.
The
upcoming Netflix show is based on the Marvel comic book series
Alias by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. It stars Krysten Ritter (from
Breaking Bad) as the title character, David Tennant (yes, that David Tennant) as Kilgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachel Taylor as Trish Walker, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper.
Jessica Jones will notably be Mike Colter's first appearance as Luke Cage before he gets his own Netflix series. After the hit
Daredevil premiered in April,
Jessica Jones is the second of four of Marvel's Netflix series to debut, followed by
Luke Cage and
Iron Fist. These shows will lead into the series
The Defenders that will star the four heroes teaming up.

In
Jessica Jones, the title character is a former superhero working as a private investigator in New York after experiencing a tragedy. She will be dealing with the darker side of the ex-superhero life, including issues like self-loathing and PTSD. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has promised fans that
Jessica JonesĀ will be edgy and suspenseful, and feature a flawed and damaged title character.
All 13 hour-long episodes of
Jessica Jones will be available on November 20th for fans to binge-watch at their discretion.
