According to
EW, AMC is producing an online special that will feature a group of passengers faced with a mid-flight zombie attack. For those unconvinced by the need for another zombie-related program, the character who survives will join the cast of
Fear the Walking Dead in season 2.

AMC has never used their online platform to introduce a new character before they debuted on the show, but this move might pave the way for more substantial tie-ins between online and televised content for AMC and other networks. The airline attack story being told in chapters during
The Walking Dead’s commercial breaks certainly offers new opportunities for telling more robust stories than online-exclusive episodes might allow.
No word on the title of the special or how it will be divided, but it will be interesting to see what impact it has on both shows beyond the introduction of a new character to
