Guillermo del Toro confirms ‘Pacific Rim 2’ will Start Filming this Year
Comic-Con is always a time for big announcements, and this year Guillermo del Toro has dropped a kaiju-sized one on us.
Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to the 2013 film which was a modest financial success making $411 million worldwide; it was however
a critical success. Filming for the sequel will begin later this year in Toronto and China and it is set for a 2017 summer release. The film seems to be moving forward at a fast pace, considering the sequel was only officially greenlit
less than three weeks ago.
In addition, del Toro mentioned that he is done producing American films, instead choosing to focus on directing, as well as producing Mexican and Latin American films.
Del Toro's next film
Crimson Peak will hit theaters later this year on October 16.
