The fall pilot season is upon us, and networks got down to business
right after the New Year celebrations with brand new deals, which
includes dusting off old ones.
ABC has given a pilot order to Last Resort, a military drama from Shawn
Ryan (The Shield) and Karl Gajdusek. The show centers around the crew of
a U.S. nuclear submarine who, after refusing to follow orders to fire some missiles, settle on a NATO listening outpost and proclaim themselves the world's smallest
nuclear nation (with 24 warheads). The story is set in a near future where the U.S. is
fractured enough for circumstances leading up to the mutiny to take
place. [via: Deadline Hollywood]
The alphabet network has also ordered a pilot from a new project
involving Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow,
2012), about a young astrophysicist who finds himself "veering between
Heaven and Hell," light years away from his first calling, in a story
set against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential elections. [via: The

Cult, a drama penned by Rockne S. O’Bannon has received a pilot order
from The CW. The story revolves around a young female production
assistant on a TV show, who investigates murders that seem to be
copycats of those staged on the show. The project was first picked up by
the WB right before it morphed into the CW. [via: The Huffington Post]
Finally, NBC has given a mere script commitment to Married with a
Roommate, a comedy about a young married couple moving into a house with
a male friend, forming a ménage à trois (household of three) without
the obvious innuendo! [via: Deadline Hollywood]
