Ryan Murphy recently confirmed that his critically lauded freshman drama American Horror Story will move to a new haunted building with several new characters for its "radically different" sophomore season. The series creator revealed that the FX series is finished with the story of the Harmons, played by Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton and Taissa Farmiga.
"Next year of the show will be a different haunting," Murphy said. "The next season of the show will be a brand-new home or building to haunt." Speaking to the reappearance of the current cast, Murphy said "Some of them will be coming back. There will be familiar faces and also some new faces."
"The people that are coming back will be playing completely different characters, creatures, monsters, etc. People who are coming back will be playing entirely new characters. I would have them all back in a heartbeat. I think we'll announce the full cast and what the new story line is going to be some time in February."
The announcement has seen mixed reaction from fans, although the concept of reinventing the show every season is likely to work well in the long-run, with each new season forming what is essentially a new show. The ability to pick up new fans with each year in addition to an already active fan base is likely to see the show see several future seasons.
