Over the past two days, Homeland, the freshman drama from Showtime, made the highlights of both awards season news and (sort of) presidential news.
The critically acclaimed TV series has just nabbed three nominations at the Golden Globes, including Best Drama, Best Actor (Damian Lewis), and Best Actress (Claire Danes). The show is the only drama appearing in all three categories this year, which is a testament to its excellent reception by the entertainment community.
Incidentally, in an interview with People — published in the special year-end double issue on newsstands on Friday, December 16 — the President states that his must-see TV dramas are Homeland and Boardwalk Empire (another favorite at the Golden Globes with two nominations). The POTUS might not be seeing eye-to-eye with congress, and some might disagree with the direction he has given to the country, but it seems his TV habits are not going to raise eyebrows or stand in the way of his re-election bid.
The drama series favored this year by the Golden Globes and the resident of the White House centers on a CIA agent with bipolar disorder (Claire Danes) who suspects the recently recovered Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), Missing in Action for eight years, is part of a terrorist plot.
The season finale of Homeland will air on Sunday, December 18 at 10 pm EST on Showtime.
