Polyphony Digital has more Gran Turismo 5 DLC coming your way. You may recall that after an eternity of waiting, fans were just recently treated to the first downloadable content pack. Well the folks at Polyphony figured the public might still be hungry for more and are releasing a second DLC pack.
Car pack 2 will be released next week, possibly Tuesday, and it will contain the 2010 Volkwagen Scirocco R, 2011 Mini Cooper S, 2010 Volkwagen Golf VI R and the 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition, because well, there aren't yet enough GT-R's in GT5 yet. The DLC will cost $3.99, but wait, Polyphony isn't finished. The game is also receiving an update. Version 2.02 is also coming out soon.
The new update will include the 2012 Toyota FT-86 and fixes some rather glaring issues. First and foremost you can finally take those ugly wheels off of your standard cars (yes!), the racing sound effects will be improved and subtle interface improvements like the ability to copy your settings sheets have been added. Also, if you purchased the first DLC pack, the GT racing kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards will be available as a gift.
Finally, the DLC pack DRM restrictions are loosening up and a free Family Upgrade unlock can be downloaded from the store allowing multiple users on the same PlayStation 3 to access the racing car and racing course packs. While I was certainly hoping for a little more substance in this go around, something is definitely better than nothing and anything that improves the menus and user interface in GT5 is welcomed. Hopefully, more DLC is still to be on the way with some more exciting cars. I would really like to see the addition of some more supercars in premium trim. In particular, I would love to see the following added: Aston Martin DB-S and V12 Vantage, Ferrari F355, Lamborghini Diablo SV, BMW M6 and E36 M3, and Bugatti Veyron SS to name a few.
