Mark Neveldine Reveals ‘Crank 3’ Plans, Includes Idris Elba
The "
Crank" films has a massive cult following, and though it also has number of detractors, it made
Mark Neveldine and
Brain Taylor into the in-demand directing duo they are today. Not surprisingly, the two plan on making a third entry into the series.
In an exclusive interview with
Empire Magazine, Neveldine has promised a third installment and the studio has thier back. Neveldine says this on the issue of Chev Chelios’ return:
“
That alone, we have 20 ways to tackle it. You know, with Crank, basically, you insert another quarter and you play the game again.”
Neveldine, whose next film with Taylor is February's
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, also expressed interest in continuing to work with
The Wire actor
Idris Elba, who will co-star "Ghost Rider." They are looking at ways to introduce the British actor in
Crank 3. Neveldine also reacted very positively to prospect of
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson being involved. Neveldine quotes:
“
Yeah man, anytime! If we could play something around him, fit him into our world, that would be amazing.”
Expect more speculation from Taylor/Neveldine as they start doing press rounds for
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance early next year. The movie will be out in theaters on Feb. 12.
