Yesterday, NetherRealm showed off the new brutalities in the new Mortal Kombat X, which can see here, but today is a big day for those awaiting what is the story is gonna be like. The 2011 game's story mode was critically praised being arguably the best effort seen in a fighting game. MKX's story trailer below is quite a doozy with what the world is going on and also how many characters were revealed for the first time, so let's try to digest what and who's in.
We first see newcomer Cassie Cage, the daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, and her special forces team of new folks that are making their debuts in Mortal Kombat X, but have familiar bloodlines or relations. There's Jacqueline Briggs, Jax's daughter, Takashi Takida, Kenshi's son, and Kung Jin, a descendant of Kung Lao. While Jacqueline and Takashi will probably have similar fighting styles to Jax and Kenshi, Kung Jin has a bow and arrow fulfilling the Green Arrow archetype from Injustice: Gods Among Us. The cowboy ninja Erron Black from the MKX comic also appears in this trailer.
As far as returning characters are concerned, Mileena is shaping up to be one of the main villains owning some amulet with tremendous powers that the special forces are trying to go after, Sindel is also back along with Rain. Shinnok, MK4's main boss, appears as well but it is unknown if he's playable. Lastly, human incarnations of Sub-Zero and Scorpion were also seen in the clip above.
It is not surprising that MKX's story mode is gonna be as good if not better than NetherRealm's previous efforts with the 2011 reboot and Injustice. Mortal Kombat X comes out on April 14th for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
