‘Thor 2’ Loses Director Patty Jenkins
The director's throne has been suddenly vacated for
Thor 2.
Patty Jenkins, known for directing the dramatic thriller
Monster, which won Charlize Theron an Oscar, has exited production on the film due to creative differences.
Jenkins had been
rumored and confirmed for the sequel to Marvel's summer hit early in the fall after
Thor director
Kenneth Branagh decided to leave the would-be franchise. The choice to go with Jenkins was poised to continue the tradition of directors with a strong reputation for working with actors and character development.
Deadline says Marvel is actively searching for Jenkins' replacement.
Thor 2 has been written by the first film's co-writer
Don Payne and all original stars are set to return including
Chris Hemsworth and
Natalie Portman. Marvel has slated the film for November 15, 2013, so production will be expected to begin next year.
